Adoptions

Adoption is a legal process whereby a person who is not the biological parent of another becomes their legal parent. Adoption is not limited to children because adults may also be adopted. The most common types of adoption are: 1.) Relative adoptions (kinship adoptions); 2.) Step-parent adoptions; 3.) Agency adoptions (the adoption of wards of the state or those in orphanages and the like); 4.) Private adoptions (between private parties); and 5.) International or out of state adoptions.
